A few of you know that I teach social media marketing courses for the University of California Riverside’s Extension program. I also teach a course called electronic marketing (new this term) in which I attempt to teach students about the various elements of internet marketing including website design, social media, email marketing and of course the ever elusive viral marketing. We’ve had a little fun watching “Will it Blend” and the Old Spice guy, but we also get a chance to watch viral campaigns as they are happening. Today, I shared with the class Look At Me Now – Chris Brown ft. Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes (Cover by @KarminMusic)
In class we watched the original Youtube video which to date had over 11 million views, and the duo’s serendipitous moment as they are pulled on stage by the legendary Roots Crew to perform the song in front of a large audience.
It is great to see return on investment, but sometimes it’s nice to see the return on talent and passion. I am now a fan of their music, covers, and of their mastery of the art of social marketing.
My favorite part is at the end when Nick says, “That just happened”
